HARD CASH VS INDIRECT BENEFITS

Do you think it is better for the government to provide financial assistance in the form of cash or indirectly through avenues such as charity contributions, property tax rebates and education benefits? I think that the government should provide financial assistance indirectly through avenues such as charity contributions, property tax rebates and education benefits as if some people get hard cash, they may gamble it away or waste the money buying unnecessary things. However, if the government provide finiancial assistance indirectly through avenues such as charity contributions, property tax rebates and education benefits, the people can save money and they cannot waste the money.

  1. Xiao Qi,

Providing financial assistance might not be the best choice because some people might not qualify to get the rebates. For example, the elderly or people who do not have school-going children will not be able to benefit from education benefits and rebates. As a result, there will not be a balance in the amount of money each family receives and what they are supposed to get or how much they deserve.

However, at the same time, providing financial assistance in the form of cash is not necessary the best choice too because they might gamble it away or waste it. Also, after they get easy money, they might become lazy and not work hard, thinking that the government will give out money to them again.

Therefore, what I'm trying to say is that there are always pros and cons not only in giving out easy money or rebates, but it also applies to many other issues and affairs. There is no perfect solution to any issue or problem.

  3. Well, its true that helping people through indirect benefit or through hard cash have their own advantages and disadvanatages like all things in the world. The government could help people through both ways, then the benefits of both ways are combined together. Wonder how this plan would work out if it was implemented, anyway , good blog with the polls and the comments. I can't figure out how to add the comments part into my blog, mind if you offer me advise?
